One feature of the newer versions of the iOS operating system used by Apple mobile devices is multitasking, which makes it easy to toggle among recently used applications. Each recently used app's icon appears in a hidden multitasking tray, where it can be used to switch to or close the app. Some of the apps in the tray may run in the background until you close them; most remain as they were when you switched apps, which allows for a quick return to the app and the opportunity to pick up where you left off.
Push the "Home" button twice quickly to open the multitasking tray.
Scroll through the list of icons by swiping left or right with your finger.
Tap the icon belonging to an app you want to use. The app opens and displays as it was when you last saw it.
Repeat this process to toggle to a different recently used app.
Tips & Warnings
- To add an app to the recently used apps tray, simply open the app from the home screen.
- To remove an app from the tray, press and hold the app's icon until all of the icons begin wobbling, then tap the red circle in the corner of the icon.
