The term "buzz" is used in association with Yahoo Messenger; it involves sending a notification to one of your contacts on Yahoo to get his attention. The iPhone version of the Yahoo Messenger application can send buzz events, but there is no "buzz" button, so it is not obvious how to accomplish this task. It's still simple, though -- all you need to do is log into your account, open a conversation with your contact and shake your phone to send a buzz.
Things You'll Need
- Yahoo Messenger application for iPhone
Download and install the Yahoo Messenger application from the App Store onto your iPhone.
Tap the Yahoo Messenger icon to launch the application, then sign into your account using your login information.
Tap the "Settings" menu option and ensure the setting for "Shake to BUZZ" is "On."
Tap the "Contacts" menu option, then tap the name of the contact you want to buzz so that a conversation window opens.
Shake your phone a few times. Your contact will be buzzed.
Tips & Warnings
- The information in this article apples to iPhones running Yahoo Messenger 2.2.8. The steps may be different for other versions.
- Close the conversation window of your contact before putting your phone in your pocket, bag or purse. It is possible that your phone will register a "shake" simply from incidental movement, meaning your contact may receive many unintended "buzz" notifications from you.
