How to Print From an Android Phone to an HP Wireless Printer

Hewlett-Packard offers the free HP ePrint app for Android phones; it allows you to print any photo, Web page or document from your phone to your HP wireless printer without having to turn on your computer. If your HP printer is ePrint-enabled, you can use the app to print from a remote location by enabling the ePrint Web Services feature on the device. If you’re using a non ePrint-enabled printer, you can use the app without having to configure your printer. When using a non ePrint-enabled printer, however, the Android phone and printer must be on the same Wi-Fi network.

Configure ePrint-enabled Printer

  • Press the “Wireless” button on the printer’s control panel, then select “Network.”

  • Select the option to print a configuration page for your HP printer. The printer’s IP address appears on the page.

  • Enter the printer’s IP address in your Web browser. The HP Embedded Web Server page opens.

  • Click the “Web Services” tab, and then click “Continue.”

  • Read and agree to the HP Terms of Use, and then click “Next.”

  • Click “Finish” when the Web Services setup process completes, and then click “OK.” The HP ePrint Mobile Printing page prints automatically.

  • Navigate to the HP ePrint website and sign in to your HP account. If you don’t have an HP account, click on the “Create an account” link and complete the registration process.

  • Click the “Add Printer” button. Enter the printer code and click “OK.” The printer code is located on the ePrint Mobile Printing page.

  • Enter a custom email address for the printer, such as, and then click “Save.”

Use the HP ePrint App

  • Download and install the HP ePrint app from the Google Play store (see link in Resources).

  • Open HP ePrint. The app detects your printer automatically if the phone is on the same Wi-Fi network. To change the printer or to print to an HP ePrint-enabled printer from a remote location, tap the Printer drop-down menu at the top of the screen. Tap the “+” icon, then enter the printer’s email address. Tap “Done.”

  • Tap “Photos” on the main screen to print an image stored in the Gallery album on your Android phone. Select your preferred image, and then tap the “Print” button.

  • Tap “Web” on the main screen to print a Web page. Navigate to the specific Web page you want to print, and then tap the “Print” button.

  • Tap “Cloud” on the main screen to print documents stored on a cloud service such as Dropbox or Google Drive. After you add your preferred account, you can open and print files stored on the cloud drive.
