How to Locate an iPhone App Backup

IPhone backups are located either at iCloud or on your computer, depending on how you use your iPhone. In the case of a Restore, you can recover all your apps using either of these backups. If you need to recover only a few apps that you deleted from your phone, you can download them again through iTunes on your computer or the App Store on the iPhone at no additional charge.

Locate App Backups on Your iPhone

  • Open the App Store on your iPhone and tap “Updates.”

  • Tap “Purchased.” Select "Not on This iPhone" to display a list of previously purchased apps or free downloads that are not currently on the phone.

  • Find the app that you wish to reinstall on your iPhone and tap the iCloud icon download button next to it. You may be asked for your iTunes username and password combination before the download begins. Apps can only be downloaded one at a time.

Locate App Backups on Your Computer

  • Open iTunes on your computer and click on the iTunes Store button.

  • Click "Purchased" from the Quick Links section on the right side of the screen.

  • Click "Apps" and "Not on This Computer" at the top of the screen.

  • Locate the app that you wish to download and click on the download button to save it to your computer. From there, you can sync it to your iPhone.
