How to Get the Best AVI on IMVU
In the IMVU chat messenger, users interact via AVIs, or avatars, in various 3D rooms. IMVU avatars are as diverse as real people are and possess different body types, clothing and accessories. As people have different preferences and different definitions of what qualifies as the “best” type of avatar, your best avatar must possess the traits you like most. To design your avatar, you will need to study other avatars, explore the IMVU catalog and acquire enough IMVU credits to purchase all of the items you feel can make your avatar the best.

Explore IMVU chat rooms and note any items that you like. For example, if the best AVI for you has wings, go to rooms likely to have wings such as Furry or nature-focused rooms. Ask users with avatars wearing wings you like for the item name and creator name if known.

Click “Shop” on the Home screen. The chat messenger opens the “Shop” screen that features the IMVU catalog and a dressing area where you can try out different items on your avatar.

Enter keywords for an item you liked in the chat rooms into the “Search Catalog” field on the upper right side of the screen. The screen automatically updates with related items.

Narrow the search by sorting items you see by average rating, newest products, price, name or creator using the “Sort By:” drop-down menu; or by selecting the type of item from the “Show Only” drop-down menu.

Locate the item you want, then click “Try” under the item picture to see what it looks like on your avatar.

Click the “Wishlist” icon -- a heart -- under the image to add the item to your Wishlist.

Continue shopping until you find all the items you want. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, select a type of item on the “Show Only” menu and a price range on the “Price” menu, then review different items.

Click “Wishlist” when you have all the items you want and then dress your avatar in the items. Remove items, or shop for and add more, until your avatar matches your preferences.

Check below the avatar dressing area when you’re finished for the total credits needed to purchase your AVI's look.

Minimize the messenger without taking the items off your avatar.

Go to your online account and select “Buy Credits” or “Earn Credits” on the Credits menu. If you select “Buy Credits,” purchase credits with real-world money. If you select “Earn Credits,” complete the credit earning methods outlined until you have enough credits for your purchases.

Return to the Shop screen and click the “Buy” button below the dressing area. A list of your AVI design items appears.

Check that the list has all your items and then click “Buy All.”

Click “Dress Up” on the Home screen. In the Dress Up screen, remove the old items you no longer want, then click “Add” on the new items so your AVI can look its best.
