How to Parallel a Fence with a DW744

Save

The DeWalt Model DW744 table saw has a telescoping fence or ripping rail that enables you to safely rip boards up to 24 1/2 inches long. The fence is designed with a rack and pin mechanism so you can adjust it quickly, accurately and smoothly.

Things You'll Need

  • Hex head ratchet
  • Pull the lock lever up to unlock the rip rail or fence. The lock lever is on the side of the saw below the end of the fence.

  • Loosen the two hex bolts beside the pinion bearing. The pinion bearing has spokes but no rim.

  • Change the angle of the fence using the fine adjustment knob in the same location. Make fence parallel to the blade.

  • Push the lock lever down to lock the fence. Check the fence to ensure that it is parallel to the blade.

  • Tighten the hex bolts.

Tips & Warnings

  • Unplug the saw while you adjust the fence. When you’re finished, make sure that you haven’t left your hex head ratchet on the saw.
