Used for decorative floor patterns and shower flooring, terrazzo is a unique substance generally consisting of pieces of ground or chipped materials such as marble, granite or glass mixed with a cement binder. The mixture is poured like concrete into graphs that set the boundaries for the flooring or fixture. After hardening, the terrazzo mixture is smoothed and polished for a sleek, glossy finish. Terrazzo shower bases are usually only a few inches thick, which sometimes crack due to foundation movement. Hairline cracks in terrazzo are similar to those found in cement and can be fixed at home.
Step 1
Vacuum up any loose debris in the cracks so the epoxy can adhere properly.

Step 2
Put on safety glasses and gloves to protect your eyes and skin from the epoxy.
Step 3
Mix the epoxy sealant according to instructions on the container. Generally, mix 2 parts resin with 1 part hardener.
Step 4
Apply the epoxy sealant directly to the hairline crack, using a toothpick to smear the epoxy down the length of the crack. Place a small amount of epoxy beyond the edges of the crack so the sealant forms a solid layer over the crack.
Step 5
Allow the epoxy to set and harden for at least 24 hours before using the shower.
Tip
Purchase clear epoxy sealant from a home improvement center. The color of epoxy will be listed on the container.
Warning
Fixing hairline cracks in terrazzo shower bases only repairs the current damage and doesn't prevent further damage. If larger cracks form in the terrazzo base, consult a professional to repair.
