LG's line of Skype- and Internet-ready televisions is making it possible to use your television -- with a few necessary additions -- to chat from your couch using LG's NetCast browsing applications. To use the NetCast feature to chat with people on Skype, you'll need to get a television that has it, set up NetCast with an ethernet connection and do a simple webcam installation.
Things You'll Need
- Internet service
- Ethernet cable
- LG Skype Video Call Camera
Plug your Ethernet cable into your router and into the Internet port on your LG television.
Use your TV remote to select "Network Settings" from the Network menu.
Highlight "Auto Setting" and hit "Enter" at the page that follows Network Settings. If the Auto Setting is not highlighted, scroll up to highlight it and then press "Enter." Close the menu.
Place your LG-compatible webcam on top of the TV. Plug in your LG webcam to one of the TV's USB ports.
Click on the Skype icon from the Netcast interface. Enter your Skype username and password if prompted. You will now able to use Skype to video chat or access other features of the platform.
