How to Recover a VMWare P2V Fail at 97%

When converting a mirrored physical version of Windows to a virtual one in VMware Converter, an operation known as physical-to-virtual conversion, the program may stop responding when the conversion process is 97 percent complete. This issue is caused by the fact that VMware Converter cannot distinguish the original physical version of Windows from the mirrored one, and therefore attempts to convert both at the same time. You can fix the issue by separating the mirrored version from the physical one.

Instructions

    • 1

Stop the current P2V operation in VMware Converter by right-clicking on the process in the "Monitoring" window" and selecting "Stop."

    • 2

Open the original physical version of Windows by selecting "Open" and clicking on "OS."

    • 3

Open the "Tools" menu and select "Mirroring." Uncheck the checkbox next to "Mirrored Drive" and click on "OK" to confirm your settings. Wait a couple of minutes for VMware Converter to finish converting the mirrored operating system.
