How to Flash a Toshiba Samsung Drive
Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology optical disc drives contain fixed software, called firmware, that is built into the hardware. This firmware is used to define the function and operation of the device. If the drive is malfunctioning, flashing or upgrading the firmware to the latest version can repair bugs in the software code and fix the component.

Connect the computer to the power adapter, if applicable. Download the full version of LiveUpdate from the official Samsung ODD website. Read and follow the on-screen directions to install the application to the computer.

Double-click the CD icon, located on the taskbar, to open Samsung ODD Firmware LiveUpdate.

Enter your name, email and location into the required fields. Click "Registration." Click "OK."

Click "Manual Search." Select "The Latest LiveUpdate Firmware Search (Automatic Upgrade)." If the application finds a new update for the firmware, select the item and then click "Download Now." LiveUpdate will flash the Toshiba Samsung drive once the download is complete.

Tips & Warnings
If a prompt appears informing you that LiveUpdate found a new firmware release for the Toshiba Samsung drive, click "Upgrade Now" to flash the drive.
Never turn off the computer during a firmware upgrade.
