How to Use Blogspot with JAWS

JAWS (Job Access with Speech) is a screen-reading software program manufactured and distributed by Freedom Scientific. Although it is most frequently used by those who are visually impaired, anyone can benefit from the screen-reader. Use JAWS to read the text on your Blogger pages, most of which have a blogspot.com URL. You have full control over how JAWS reads the text.

Instructions

      Download and install the JAWS software onto your computer, if you have not done so already. The software is available at freedomscientific.com; the trial version is free.

      Open the Blogger page you want to use with JAWS.

      Double-click the JAWS icon located on your computer desktop. If no icon is on your desktop, open the program by clicking your Windows “Start” button. Select All Programs to locate and open the program.

      Wait for JAWS to begin reading the text on the Blogspot page.

      Use JAWS reading commands if you want to control how JAWS reads the screen text. For instance, to read the current line of text, simultaneously press “Insert” and the up arrow on your keyboard. To go to the next line of text press the down arrow. To read an entire paragraph, simultaneously press “Ctrl” and “5.” To jump to the next paragraph, simultaneously press “Ctrl” and the down arrow.
