How to Connect Multiple Bar Code Scanners

Barcode scanners receive their power and data connection through USB cables.

Barcode scanners allow you to scan barcodes into a POS or inventory software on the host computer. Depending on the POS or inventory software you are using, you may be able to use multiple barcode scanners while scanning items into the program. Since barcode scanners now use a USB connection to transmit data, the only thing limiting the number of barcode scanners you can connect to your host computer is the number of USB ports available.

Instructions

1. Locate the cable interface port on the bottom of the scanner device.

2. Plug the interface cable modular connector end of the barcode scanner's cable into the cable interface port.

3. Plug the USB end of the barcode scanner's cable into one of the host computer's USB ports.

4. Repeat steps one through three for the remaining barcode scanners.
