How to Field an ICOM IC F100 Program
The IC F-100 is an entry-level series of mobile radios produced by ICOM. F-100 radios can be programmed, and once programmed are ready to be field-tested. This series is good for people who are novices at using mobile radios, and are used in the construction industry, in taxis and in agricultural vehicles.

Set the manual and the radio down on a flat work surface. Open the manual to the page that shows a labeled diagram of the radio. These radios also have a LCD display screen offering an alphanumeric selection.

3
Study the programming options for your radio. Determine what you want your radio to do and make your selection of programming from your options. For example, program an IC F-100 radio to do a scan when you hook the microphone into its spot on the radio. Program an ICOM radio to the frequencies you will be using. The CD includes two programming options: changing your personal data and creating a password.

4
Program your radio. Field-test the programming you added: select several physical locations and test your radio in each location.

Tips & Warnings
Field-testing the radio in different locations helps you plan for any emergency situations, as you will not be taken by surprise by a radio suddenly not working in a certain area.
Solar flares may affect the ability of your mobile radio to work. Atmospheric conditions affect radio signals. Keep track of these conditions to make sure that when you field-test your radio there is no interference.
