Transform a coat hanger into a whimsical jewelry organizer.

Jewelry that is not well-organized can become tangled and damaged. Keep your necklaces and bracelets properly displayed and protected by hanging them on a jewelry organizer. Although you can buy a jewelry organizer from a store, make a more creative and artistic-looking jewelry organizer by using materials found around your house, such as a wire clothes hanger. Making your own wire hanger jewelry organizer also enables you to customize the design to suit your specific pieces of jewelry.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay a wire clothes hanger flat onto a table. Select a small hanger for only a few pieces of jewelry, or a larger hanger if you have a larger number of necklaces and bracelets.

    • 2

Crimp the bottom edge of the wire hanger to create pinched tines, each of which will hold a necklace or bracelet.

    • 3

Cut a strip of fabric to measure 2 inches wide, 60 inches long. Select any fabric you prefer.

    • 4

Cover the wire jewelry organizer with a thin layer of fabric glue, then wrap the fabric strip around the wire. Cover the entire wire jewelry organizer using the fabric. Allow the glue to dry for two to four hours.

    • 5

Drape necklaces and bracelets over the pinches tines, then hang up the organizer by the curved top of the hanger.
