Record the night sky with your Nikon D80 digital camera by attaching a Celestron 90 telescope. Convert the Celestron 90 telescope to a telephoto lens with two accessories: the T-adapter and the T-ring for the Nikon F lens mount. According to the Celestron 90 specifications sheet, this lightweight Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system features a 1,000-mm lens with a f/11 focal ratio and a 90-mm aperture.

Instructions

      Thread the T-Adapter to the rear cell of the C90 lens.

      Thread the T-Ring to the D80 camera body without the Nikkor lens.

      Adjust the T-ring to position the camera body for a horizontal or vertical orientation. If necessary, use a screwdriver to loosen the T-ring’s three small screws and rotate the camera to the preferred position. Retighten these three screws.

      Connect the T-adapter to the T-ring. The C90 lens, T-adapter, T-ring and D80 Nikon camera body form one long assembly.

Tips & Warnings

  • The C90 lens contains a photo tripod adapter. Set the C90 lens and attached camera on a tripod to minimize camera shake during the exposure. Attach a cable release to activate the camera shutter.

  • Grip the lens and the camera body firmly to prevent them from slipping out of your hands as you connect the components. Do not force the connection.
