How to Decorate Geometric Ceramics
Geometric ceramics add a modern touch to any decor, but they can appear plain unless you decorate the forms with ceramics glaze. Although you can apply glaze over the entire surface of geometrically shaped ceramics, make the clay form more dynamic and interesting by decorating the ceramics in a more mathematical manner. Use simple craft supplies as tools to add geometric shapes onto the surface of the geometric ceramics form, highlighting its shape.

1
Place a ruler against one side of the wet ceramics form, then score along the straight edge of the ruler, using a ceramics pointer tool. This will draw a straight line along the side of the ceramics form. Draw multiple lines using the same manner as the first, spacing the lines evenly and making them parallel to each other. Repeat on each side of the form if desired.

2
Paint over each scored line using ceramics glaze, applying it with a paintbrush. You may apply one color of glaze over all of the lines, or alternate colors, or apply a different color onto each side to make the geometric vessel more interesting.

Cut a craft sponge with scissors to create a small, triangular sponge. Dip the sponge into ceramics glaze, then stamp triangles over larger spaces on the sides of the clay vessel.
-
4
Dip the end of an unused pencil eraser into ceramics glaze, then stamp the eraser onto the clay vessel to create small glazed circles.
-
5
Allow the ceramics glaze to dry for six to eight hours, then fire it in a kiln set to medium heat for six hours. Allow the geometric vessel to cool for six more hours before handling it.
