How to Flash an HTC Hero to Metro PCS
Originally released on the Sprint network, the HTC Hero smartphone can work on other CDMA networks as well, including MetroPCS. Flashing the phone requires that you overwrite the existing network programming with new programming for MetroPCS. Flashing only works on CDMA phones, which don’t use SIM cards to connect to cell towers. Instead, the phones have internal programming that directs them to a certain cellular network. Flashing your HTC Hero to MetroPCS changes the phone's existing programming to work only with the new network.

1
Take your HTC Hero to a local MetroPCS store that offers the MetroFLASH service. The store employees can flash your phone to the MetroPCS network while you wait. The fee for this service is $10 as of the date of publication.

Contact a third-party mobile retailer to inquire if the store offers flashing services. Many retailers who sell phones and mobile plans from multiple companies provide in-store flashing. Costs vary between stores and may be more expensive for a smartphone than a basic cell phone.
