How to Remove & Replace the Front Speaker on a 2002 Chrysler 300M
If you are upgrading the stereo system in your 2002 Chrysler 300M, or you need to replace a damaged speaker, you need to know how to access the old one first. A do-it-yourselfer can remove and replace the speaker with little trouble using a few basic tools you can find in most home toolboxes. Unlike some cars, you do not have to remove the dash to gain access to the speaker.

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery using a small wrench to loosen the terminal nut.

Open the left door on the Chrysler. Pull on the access handle on the end cover of the dash to remove it. Open the door on the right side. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the bottom of the end cap and gently pry it away from the dash.

Remove the black cover on the front of the dashboard using a flathead screwdriver to pry it away from the dash. This is called the center bezel. Do this carefully so you don't stretch or break the plastic. There are seven snaps securing the bezel to the dash. Set the bezel aside.

Reach into the dash and unplug the electrical lead from the speaker. Remove the two screws securing the speaker to the dash using a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the speaker from under the dash.

Mount the new speaker to the dash using a Phillips screwdriver. Plug the electrical wires into the posts on the speaker.

Place the bezel on the front of the dash and push firmly at the clips to snap it into place. Place the end caps on the left and right side of the dash and push firmly to lock them into place. Connect the cable to the negative battery post and tighten the terminal nut using a small wrench.

Tips & Warnings
If you do not want to use a flathead screwdriver to remove the end caps, you can purchase a trim stick, special tool #C-4755, to release the clips.
