A wall mounted TV can use a hidden set top box.

A IR Repeater is a device that is used to control audio and video components with your infrared remote control, or IR, that are hidden behind walls or doors of an entertainment cabinet. Hidding cable set top boxes and stereo systems keeps unsightly cords out the way and clears up clutter on your entertainment system.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the IR Repeater box on a flat surface, 1 foot away from your TV and within 6 feet of your TV and other audio/video component that you are going to control with your remote.

    • 2

Insert the 4-pin DIN connector of the IR receiver into the IR repeater 4-pin DIN port.

    • 3

Mount the IR receiver to the entertainment stand or other furniture that your TV is on with the provided tape. Position it so that the IR receiver's sensor or "eye" is facing where you will use the remote from, such as a couch. The "eye" will be a small red disc, 1/8 inch in diameter or smaller.

    • 4

Connect the IR emitter to the IR repeater box with the 1/8 inch mini-plug connector.

    • 5

Locate the IR sensor or "eye" on each of the devices you wish to use with the remote, such as your TV, DVD player and stereo. Peel off the plastic covering on the tape located on the back of the IR emitter and press the IR emitter to the IR sensor of each of the devices. Insert the USB of the IR emitter into the USB port of the device, such as your cable set top box.

    • 6

Plug the IR repeater into an electrical outlet. Aim the IR remote at the IR receiver and use the remote. The LED on the IR receiver will flash when you use the remote to control the electronic device.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not put the IR receiver in direct sunlight; near plasma screen TVs; devices that emit radio frequencies, such as a wireless router; or near equipment that runs hot, as this may damage it.
