How to Make Toilet Seat Covers From Towels
Toilet seat covers enable your bathroom to appear more decorative and welcoming, and are available in a wide variety of colors at any department or home decorating store. If you want the toilet seat cover to match your bathroom towel color exactly, construct a cover using one of your large bath towels. A toilet seat cover created from a towel also enables you to wash the cover in a standard washing machine along with all of your other bath towels. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Measuring tape
- Large bath towel
- Scissors
- Elastic ribbon, 1/2-inch
- Straight pins
- Sewing needle
- Thread

Measure the length and width of the top of your toilet seat, then cut out a circular shape from a large bath towel to the same measurements, adding 1 inch onto the edge.

Measure around the perimeter of the toilet seat top, then cut a piece of elastic ribbon to the same measurement minus 2 inches.

Pin the elastic ribbon around the edge of the towel shape using straight pins, gathering 1/4 inch of the towel fabric underneath the elastic every 2 to 3 inches.

Sew around the pinned elastic to secure it onto the towel fabric, then sew the ends of the elastic ribbon together.

Trim off any excess thread with scissors.
