How to Flash a BIOS That Is Unsupported on a Dell D800
You can use a special command to force the BIOS to flash on your Dell Latitude D800 laptop. You may receive an error message when attempting to flash the BIOS if the file isn't designed for your computer or if your computer's service tag has become corrupted. Using the "/forceit" switch after the BIOS executable will override the error message and allow you to flash the BIOS. It is highly risky to flash an unsupported BIOS to any computer; attempting this may render your D800 unusable. This should only be attempted by an expert computer user.

1
Download the BIOS file from Dell's website (link in Resources). You will have an EXE file with the name referring to the intended system and BIOS version number. The most recent version of the D800 BIOS, at the time of publication, is D800_A13.exe.
-
2
Save your BIOS EXE file to the bootable disk or drive. The boot media must boot into a DOS command prompt. You can use a bootable floppy disk, a bootable CD-ROM or a bootable flash drive -- all would be considered boot media.

3
Insert the bootable media into the Latitude D800 and power on the machine. Press "F12" to see a list of bootable devices. Select the location of your boot media and press "Enter." Wait for the computer to boot to the DOS command prompt.

4
Type "CD A:\BIOS\", where "BIOS" is the directory on the boot media on which the BIOS file is stored and "A" is the letter of the boot drive you used. Type "D800_A13.exe /forceit" and press "Enter." Ensure that there is a space between the file name and the slash. The unsupported BIOS will flash over the current BIOS. Remove the boot media when the computer restarts.
