How to Do a Contract for a Sponsor
When working with a sponsor, it’s important to create a strong contract that works towards your best interests as well as the interests of the sponsor. Organization is one important aspect of the contract. If you don’t lay out your proposal properly, it won’t catch the attention of a sponsor and it may be difficult to understand all the clauses.

1
Format the agreement with the logo of the potential sponsor at the top of the page. Include the contact information for the company under the logo.
-
2
Place your name and contact information below the contact information of the business. Put a space between your information and that of the company to ensure the two are clearly separated for increased readability.
-
-
3
Introduce the contract that states the names of the party and the date of its establishment. Speak in the third person when writing the introduction.
-
4
Write the base reason for the contract. For example, cover any monetary support the sponsor is providing to the person under contract as well as the name of the project being sponsored.
-
5
List the general provisions of the contract below the base reason for the contract. This part of the contract covers the responsibilities of both the sponsor and the person being sponsored. For example, when a sporting goods store sponsors an athlete, this part of the contract will detail the legal responsibilities of the sponsorship agreement, the events the athlete must participate in, the tax conditions of accepting the money and much more.
-
6
Write down important clauses below the general provisions. The important clauses cover insurance information, how contact should be made between the sponsor and the sponsored person, repercussions of breaking the contract as well as a termination clause.
-
7
State that all agreements made outside of the contract but not included in it are null and void. Include a note about the contract meeting all the legal standards of the state in which it is signed. Write a quick note verifying that the contract is signed on the date listed on the contract.
-
8
Sign the bottom of the contract in the presence of the sponsorship representative.
