How to Make a Music Channel in Vent With iTunes thumbnail
Ventrilo is a popular VoIP service for PC gamers.

Epic background music can make your raid or PvP match a whole lot more fun. Setting up Ventrilo to stream music from iTunes is an easy task and takes only a few minutes to configure. However, to create a dedicated streaming source, you'll need to use a separate installation of Ventrilo on a different computer. This allows you to continue using your main Ventrilo account to talk with your friends.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your computer's system sounds. As this method utilizes your sound card, you don't want to transmit any errant sounds.

    • 2

Launch iTunes. Get your playlist ready to go.

    • 3

Launch your Ventrilo client. Click the "Setup" button to open the "Setup" window. By default, the "Voice" tab is selected.

    • 4

Disable the "Push To Talk" option by unchecking the associated check box.

    • 5

Expand the "Input Device" drop-down menu. Select your sound card from the menu.

    • 6

Find the "Amplifiers" section in the lower right corner. Drag the "Inbound" slider all the way down to "-10." Click "OK" when finished.

    • 7

Connect to your Ventrilo server and choose a channel. Begin playing your iTunes playlist. All members of the channel will be able to hear the music.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ventrilo has an "iTunes integration" feature available within channels, but this option only displays the titles of the songs you are listening to. It does not transmit music.
