How to Convert PES Files to JEF Files

How to Convert PES Files to JEF Files thumbnail
Electronic embroidery machines produce designs from computer files.

Digital embroidery machines make monogramming, embroidering logos and decorating fabric objects faster and simpler than embroidering by hand. These machines aren't standardized, however. Most brands use their own proprietary embroidery file format. A PES file meant for use on a Janome brand embroidery machine won't work on a Brother, Babylock or Bernina machine, which uses only JEF files. Specialized software allows you to convert your embroidery files to the correct format.

Instructions

    • 1

Upload your PES file to the free Embroidery Designs conversion tool. In the drop-down menu, choose “Janome/JEF.” Click “Convert Now”; then click the download icon. Save the new JEF file to the folder on your computer where you keep your embroidery files.

    • 2

Download the free demo version of Embird Embroidery software. Install and open Embird. Under the “File” menu, select “Open.” Choose the appropriate PES embroidery file. Choose “Save As” under the “File” menu.” Select the JEF file type. Choose “Save” to save the design as a new JEF file.

Download Wilcom TrueSizer e2. Install and open the program. Click on the “Open” icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Select your PES file. Under the “File” menu, click “Save As.” Select JEF as the file type in the next dialog; then save the new file in your embroidery design folder.
