How to Make a USB Webcam Fit a TV

Your USB camera will fit your television.

There are several applications for fitting a USB webcam to a television, such as home security, producing images on a large screen for the visually impaired and uploading visual data to a video-recording device. Two options exist for connecting a webcam to a television: a straight connection from the webcam to the television or connecting your webcam to your PC and connecting it to the television. A straight connection requires an adaptor that converts USB to RCA, and connecting your webcam via PC requires a S-video cable.

Things You'll Need

• Female-to-female USB adaptor
• USB-to-RCA cable
• S-video cable

Instructions

Webcam to Television

1. Connect the female-to-female USB adaptor cable to the webcam.

2. Connect the USB tip of the USB-to-RCA cable converter to the USB adaptor cable.

3. Connect the yellow RCA tip to the video-in port on your television.

4. Connect the red and white RCA tips to the audio-in ports on your television.

5. Turn your television’s on and navigate to its “Input” source.

Laptop to Television

1. Power up your computer and open the software that will drive your webcam.

2. Insert the S-video cable in your computer S-video port.

3. Insert the other end of the S-video cable in the S-video input of your television.

4. Select “S-video” on your television’s menu.
