How to Get Rid of a Rolling Line on the TV From a Computer
When simultaneously operating a television and a computer, it is common for EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) to occur. EMI usually results in horizontal lines scrolling across your television screen. You may also hear a buzzing sound. In some cases, adjusting your television antenna will eliminate the interference. If antenna adjustment does not work, or if your television does not have an antenna, additional troubleshooting is necessary.

1
Verify that the computer is definitely causing the interference. To do this, shut down the electrical outlet to which your computer is connected. This is done through the circuit breaker box.
If the interference goes away after the computer's electrical outlet is shut down, you have identified the problem. If the interference continues, keep shutting down other electrical outlets one by one (via the circuit breaker) until you identify the source.
-
2
Turn the electrical outlet power back on via the circuit breaker box.

-
3
Shut down your computer. Do not put the computer in “Sleep” mode. Shut down all other devices connected to your computer, such as scanners, printers, modems and routers.
-
4
Unplug the computer from the electrical outlet or surge protector (whichever is applicable). Leave the computer unplugged as long as the television is in use.
-
5
Move the computer or television so that the two devices are 10 feet (or more) apart. If the interference continues, move the devices farther apart until the interference ceases. If the interference continues, contact your computer manufacturer or a computer repair shop for further troubleshooting.
