How to Convert SEGD to SEGY
The SEGY and SEGD file formats are developed and maintained by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists for storing geophysical data. Both types are open standards and SEGY is mostly used to store single-line seismic digital data on magnetic tapes. Because the two standards are very similar, converting between them is relatively easy. However, you must use an automated tool to convert the SEGD file to a SEGY file.

1
Open your Web browser and navigate to the official Seismatters website. It contains a wide variety of seismology tools, including converters.
-
2
Click on the "SEGD to SEGY Converter" link to download the tool. Save the archive on your hard disk drive. Right-click on the archive and select "Extract All" from the resulting menu. Select your desktop and click on the "Extract" button. A file named "SegdToSegy.exe" is created.

3
Double-click on the "SegdToSegy" executable to start the tool. Go to the "File" menu and select the "Open SEGD Files" option. Use the resulting file browser to select the SEGD file. The tool automatically converts the file to a SEGY file.

4
Select a location when prompted to save the file. Your original SEGD file is now a fully functional SEGY file.
