Instructions

    • 1

Turn the couch cushion on its side with the seam facing up. Cut the seam using a seam ripper along one side of the cushion.

    • 2

Remove all the infill from inside the couch cushion, and discard the infill.

    • 3

Stuff the cushion with new infill through the opening. Use foam infill for a firmer cushion, cotton or wool infill for a slightly less firm cushion or polyester or down infill for a softer cushion. The more you fill the cushion, the firmer the cushion will be.

    • 4

Pin the edges of the opening back together again using safety pins. Do not overlap or fold the edges of the opening over each other.

    • 5

Sew the opening closed again using a chain stitch with nylon thread. Cut off any excess thread before using the couch cushion.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a pre-formed infill cushion instead of loose infill if you prefer a more uniform-looking cushion.

  • Keep sharp seam rippers, safety pins and sewing needles away from children.
