How to Make Gloss House Paint With Semi-Gloss
Paints come in a variety of finishes ranging from matte to high-gloss. A gloss finish is great for accenting trims and details or it can be used to draw attention to larger objects such as furniture. If you find yourself with a lot of semi-gloss paint, when what you need is a gloss paint, you don't need to waste your paint; simply add some more gloss using high-gloss paint. Fill a bucket with equal parts semi-gloss paint and high-gloss paint.

Mix the paint together thoroughly with a stir stick.

Paint a sample piece of wood with the paint mixture and allow it to dry. The paint should appear like a gloss paint but it may need to be adjusted.

Add a quarter part high-gloss paint if the mixture is not glossy enough or a quarter part semi-gloss paint if the mixture is too glossy. Repeat the process of testing the paint and readjusting it until you reach a gloss paint.

Never combine latex and oil paints; mix each with its own type.
