How to Hang a Picture With a Hanger Grid on the Frame

Take into account the placement of the hanger grid on your picture frame when hanging the picture.

A hanger grid attaches to a picture frame at the top and provides a spot where the frame can rest upon the hanger attached to the wall. Hanging a picture with a hanger grid already on the frame will save you the bother of putting the grid onto the frame yourself, but you'll need to take into account the placement of the grid to ensure that the frame is accurately placed on the wall.

Things You'll Need

• Ruler
• Tape measure
• Pencil
• Picture hanger
• Hammer
• Screwdriver

Instructions

1. Measure from the top of the back of the frame to the bottom of the hanger grid. Record the measurement.

2. Measure up your wall to the spot where you want the top edge of the picture frame to be located. Make a pencil mark on the wall at this point.

3. Measure down from the pencil mark the distance recorded in the first step. Make a pencil mark on the wall.

4. Place your picture-hanging hardware at the second mark and install into the wall according to the directions provided with the hardware. Be sure to follow instructions and use hardware rated for the weight of your picture frame.
