1
Remove the shelves and place them in a work area. You will need plenty of room to get around and work.
-
2
Measure the shelves with a measuring tape. Write down the length and width measurements.
-
-
3
Trim the laminate to fit with a trim router. Use a new carbide blade to avoid ripping the laminate.
-
4
Spread contact cement onto the surface of the shelves with a paint roller. A small roller works best. Spread on an even layer.
-
5
Spread contact cement onto the back of each piece of laminate. Allow the contact cement on the shelves and the laminate to dry to the touch.
-
6
Press the laminate into the contact cement. Line it up so that the edges match and press the laminate on firmly.
-
7
Smooth out the laminate with a J roller. This will give you a good, firm grip.
-
8
Allow the contact cement time to cure before replacing the shelves. Follow package instructions, but generally expect to wait between six and eight hours before replacing the shelves.
