How to Get Inside the GE Profile Gas Cooktop
The vent filter in the middle of a General Electric (GE) Profile gas cook-top maintains cooking performance by catching debris. The filter requires regular cleaning to prevent residue buildup. Located inside the cook-top's vent chamber, the filter is covered by the cook-top's grille. Accessing the filter is simple. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Turn the gas cook-top's knobs counterclockwise to the off position. Wait at least one hour for the grates and grille to cool.
-
2
Place oven mitts on your hands, and lift the vent grille from the middle of the cook-top. Set it aside. With the grille removed, the vent gasket, vent filter and vent chamber are visible.

3
Pull out the vent gasket. The gasket is directly underneath the location from which you removed the vent grille.
-
4
Lift the vent filter from inside the gas cook-top's vent chamber. The vent chamber is below the cook-top's surface, inside the appliance. The vent filter is a wire screen.
-
5
Grab the left and right side of the GE Profile cook-top, and slowly lift the cook-top from its counter opening to access the inside of the counter. Avoid lifting the cook-top by its vent chamber because doing so can break the cook-top and void its warranty.
