How to Replace the Oven Ignitor on a GE Gas Oven JGS968SEK3SS
The General Electric JGS968SEK3SS is a slide-in gas range designed for use in a residential setting. The JGS968SEK3SS features a convection fan, which evenly circulates the air during the cooking process; a self-cleaning feature; glass-touch control panel and a stainless steel finish. The oven utilizes an electronic ignition system, which uses an ignitor on each burner to light the gas. Unplug the range from the wall outlet, or turn off the breaker in your home's service panel.

Open the oven door, and then remove the oven racks from the oven compartment.

Remove the screws at rear of the bottom panel of the oven, then lift the panel out of the oven. Skip this step if you are replacing the broil element.

Remove the screws securing the burner shield assembly to the range, and then remove the assembly.

Remove the screws securing the ignitor to the side of the burner. Pull the ignitor away from the rear of the oven, and then disconnect the wire connector. Remove and discard the ignitor.

Connect the new ignitor's wire connector to the range's wire harness, and then secure the ignitor to the burner using the screws from the old ignitor.

Reassemble the oven by reversing the steps taken to take it apart, and then restore the oven's power supply.
