Making a Kids Pin-On Badge
Pin-on badges have a variety of uses -- they can be used as awards, party favors or name tags. Moreover, creating pin-on badges can be a fun and interactive activity for kids to do together and with their parents. Children can use unusual shapes and materials, such as foam shapes and alphabet beads, to construct their badges and express their creativity. With just a few simple steps and ordinary household materials, kids can make and personalize pin badges for any occasion.

1
Trace a shape onto the cardboard or foam using the drinking glass or other object. Interestingly shaped stencils are useful but not necessary. Use the scissors to cut out the shape.
-
2
Allow children to decorate the shape using the craft items. Some ideas include using foam letters to spell out a child’s name; making rosettes out of colored tissue paper and glue it to the cardboard; punching holes in the cardboard and weave ribbons through the holes; or spelling out names with alphabet beads and glue them to the card stock. Pin badges are used to draw attention to the wearer, so let the kids get as flashy with their designs as they want.

Ensure the front of the pin badge is completely dry. Then, flip the badge over and use the hot glue gun to affix the nonfastening side of the safety pin to the back of the badge. Allow several minutes for the glue to dry before pinning the badge onto clothes.
