DIY Mirror With Fabric Flowers
Making your own fabric flower frame for a plain mirror adds a creative and playful touch to a room. Create these fabric flower mirrors--ideal for a child's bedroom--using leftover fabric from a sewing project or old clothes. Use just about any type of fabric material, such as lace, cotton, satin, wool or even jeans, to create this simple craft.

Instructions

1
Spread parchment paper on a table and lay the fabric swatch you will be using to create the flower on top. The fabric swatch should be at least twice as big as the size of your mirror.
-
2
Use a paintbrush to cover the fabric and the green fabric swatch with fabric stiffener. Allow them to dry completely.
-
-
3
Turn the fabric over and place the mirror in the center. Trace around the mirror with a pen.
-
4
Trace a flower petal shape along the edges of the fabric swatch. The petals should all be the same size.
-
5
Cut out the circle just inside of the line you traced using sharp fabric scissors.
-
6
Position the fabric, right side up, over the mirror so that the mirror is the center of the flower, then glue in place using strong glue.
-
7
Trace and cut out the shape of a stem from the green fabric. The stem size should be in scale with the size of the mirror and fabric around the mirror.
-
8
Glue the top end of the stem to the back of the mirror.

Tips & Warnings
Attach rhinestones to the flower for sparkle using a rhinestone and stud setter.
Cut individual petals from the fabric and glue them to the back of the mirror.
If your mirror doesn't already have a back to hang it, create one by cutting a circle out of cardboard, hole-punching either side of it and attaching a piece of string long enough to hang the mirror without it being visible. Glue the cardboard to the back of the mirror and hang.
