How to Make a Curling Braid Chain

Use a curling iron to curl a braided chain.

A braid chain is a charming craft you can pin into your hair, use as a streamer, or use as a holiday decoration. Braid yarn together to make the braided chain, using any colors you like, then add some flair by curling the chain. You can do this for one single curled braid or several.

Things You'll Need

• Yarn
• Scissors
• Hairspray
• Curling iron

Instructions

1. Cut three pieces of yarn to the same length, about 2 feet each. Tie together in a knot at one end.

2. Braid the yarn pieces together, wrapping the yarn over each other, until you reach the bottom of the yarn. Tie a knot at the end to secure the braid.

3. Hold the braid by one end and spray with hairspray, spritzing a thin, even layer all over the yarn.

4. Heat up a curling iron then wrap the yarn around the rod in a coil. Leave on for about 20 seconds, then remove. The hairspray will help the yarn keep the curled shape.

Tips & Warnings

• Make the yarn longer if you want a longer chain.

• Take care when handling the heated curling iron.
