How to Make Key Fobs With Sterling Chains & Beads
Key fobs are key chains that have some form of personal identifying information on them. This information can be anything from nicknames to the names of pets and children. Key fobs can also be made from any type of materials. Key fobs made from sterling silver chains and beads make stylish personalized gifts. Moreover, unlike cloth key fobs, chain key fobs require no sewing and just a few items, with most beading supply stores carrying everything your need.

Instructions

1
Lay the blue or black hand towel out on a table in a well-lighted room to use as a workspace. The dark color behind the silver chain and beads make them easier to see and work with.
-
2
Work the key chain ring onto the last link of the silver chain. The key chain prevents the beads from slipping off the chain as you put them on the chain to make the key fob.

3
Arrange the beads on the towel in the order you want them to appear on the chain. Place one or more smaller beads between each large bead to accent personalized icon beads.
-
4
Slide the beads onto the chain in the order you placed the beads on the towel, putting the beginning of the word closest to the key ring.
-
5
Attach the free end of the chain onto the key chain ring by slipping the key chain ring onto the link just as you would with a key. This closes the chain fob preventing the beads from slipping off or becoming lost.

Tips & Warnings
Use a longer chain to make a key chain fob with a wider diameter.
Add a charm shaped key ring at the end of the fob rather than looping the end back to the key ring for a 7-inch key fob.
This project contains small parts. Adult supervision is recommended if children participate in making this craft.
