How to Bake Enamel on Ceramics
Using enamel can will result in your ceramics being tougher and less likely to break. If you have access to a ceramics oven or work at a crafts studio, use a large oven for larger pottery items. If you work at home, use your regular oven for smaller items and allow larger items to air dry.

1
Dust and clean your pottery item. Make sure to remove any debris or dust before coating with enamel paint.
-
2
Prepare the enamel paint. Make sure to shake the paint container thoroughly before beginning to coat your ceramic item.
-
-
3
Apply a thin layer of enamel paint over the surface of your ceramic item. Make sure you coat all areas of your pottery equally.
-
4
Place ceramic item in our oven and bake no longer than 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. For smaller objects bake for 10 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit or for 20 minutes at 200 degrees instead.
-
5
Take out of the oven and allow ceramic item to cool. Evaluate the coating. If necessary, apply a second coating and repeat the baking step.
-
6
If your ceramic item is too large to fit in your oven, follow the same steps, but instead of baking to dry the paint, let air-dry for around 21 days.
