How to Remove the Sleeves to Create a Strapless Wedding Gown
Strapless wedding dresses are a popular style amongst brides. Perhaps you have inherited a dress from someone else, or found that perfect gown but would prefer to wear it strapless. Maybe you are altering your wedding gown altogether to turn it into a dress to be worn as part of your regular rotation of outfits. Fortunately, using some basic sewing skills, you can save the money on a professional tailor and alter your dress yourself.

1
Cut horizontally along the top of the wedding dress, removing the sleeves from the dress.

2
Turn the dress inside-out and try it on. Have an assistant place pins in the back so that the dress fits snuggly around your torso. Remove the dress. Sew a seam down the back to create the new resized measurements. If there is excessive fabric bunching in the back, cut the extra fabric away before sewing.

Fold a quarter-inch hem around the top of the dress and pin in place. Do this with the dress still inside-out. Sew the hem down around the top of the dress. Turn the dress right-side-out.
