Instructions

  1. Simple Bug Face

    • 1

Cut an oval shape out of a piece of green felt, about 1 foot across at the widest point and 9 inches tall at the highest point.

    • 2

Cut out two circle shapes out of a piece of dark blue felt, each about 4 inches wide. Place these in the upper half of the oval felt for the bug eyes.

    • 3

Cut a wedge out of a piece of red felt, about 9 inches wide and 3 inches high at the widest point. Place this with the flat side up on the bottom half of the oval to create the mouth.

    • 4

Cut out two pieces of green felt into the shape of antennae. Place these at the top of the oval piece, just above the eyes, to create antennae. Glue each piece of felt in place or leave them unglued if you plan on moving them around and playing with the shape.

    Realistic Bug Face

    • 5

Cut a piece of brown felt into a triangle, with 12 inches on each side. Round each corner of the triangle slightly to create a triangle with rounded edges.

    • 6

Place the triangle with a flat side on top and the pointed side facing down. Cut a crescent shape out of the bottom 6 inches of each side of the triangle to create an insect jawline.

    • 7

Cut out two circles from a piece of black felt, each about 4 inches wide. Place these at the top corners of the triangle, slightly overlapping the edge of the green felt, to create the eyes.

    • 8

Cut a piece of light brown fabric into a half circle wedge about 4 inches wide and 2 inches tall at the tallest point. Cut small, pointed teeth out of the flat side of the wedge. Place the wedge with the teeth down on the bottom of the triangle to create the mouth.

    • 9

Cut two long, curving pieces of brown felt to create the antennae. These should be 10 inches long and 1 inch wide. Place these at the top of the face above and behind the eyes. Glue each piece in place.
