How to Listen to and Upload Songs on an iPad
Your iPad is a multifunctional entertainment system that allows you to upload and listen to music through the built-in speakers or with your headphones. The computer support iTunes, the default music service for several Apple products, including the iPod and iPhone. It can be intimidating when you read through the myriad of instructions for your new tablet computer. Use your existing iTunes account, or create a new one, to upload your favorite songs, artists and albums to your iPad.

Connect you iPad to your Mac or PC with a USB cable. Launch iTunes if it doesn’t automatically pop up, or create a new iTunes account through the Apple website. The website requires a name, email address and credit or debit card number to proceed through the entire process.

Locate the “Device” menu, which is found on the left hand of the iTunes menu screen. Click on “iPad” and continue.

Purchase music or download existing music in your iTunes library. To purchase music, provide a credit card number, debit card number or an iTunes gift card. Once the songs are purchased, move them and the existing songs by clicking on each “File” and then click “Add to Library.” The music is now on your iTunes library.

Locate the “Music” tab, which will be near the top center of the screen, on the iTunes menu. You are then given the choice to download your entire music library, including songs imported from CDs or purchased through iTunes, or select songs, artists and playlists.

Click on “Apply,” which is located on the bottom of your computer’s screen, to transfer your music to the iPad. Once complete, close down iTunes and wait until you are prompted to disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Disconnect the USB cable from your iPad. You’re now ready to listen to music.

Touch the “Music” app on your iPad’s home screen. Find a specific playlist, song or artist by clicking on the corresponding section on the bottom of the screen.

Locate the “Play,” “Shuffle,” “Pause” and other controls at the top of your screen. The touchscreen allows you to control the songs and volume.

Plug in a pair of headphones into the jack, which is located along the top of the unit, or listen to your music though the built-in speakers.
