Instructions

    • 1

Cut a rectangle from decorative fabric to measure 4 inches wide and 12 inches long. Select cotton fabric for a thinner-textured potpourri pillow, or use heavy fabrics, such as velvet, for a thicker-textured pillow.

    • 2

Fold the fabric rectangle in half lengthwise, placing the right sides together. Pin around the edges using straight pins, leaving a 1/4-inch seam allowance.

    • 3

Sew around the pinned edges with a sewing needle and thread, leaving 2 inches un-sewn. Remove all of the straight pins, and turn the pillow right side out.

    • 4

Fill the pillow with scented potpourri, then turn the edges of the opening under by 1/4 inch.

    • 5

Stitch the opening closed with a sewing needle and thread, then snip off any excess thread with scissors.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sew a loop of ribbon onto one corner of the potpourri pillow if you prefer hanging the pillow onto a door knob.

  • Keep sharp scissors, straight pins and sewing needles out of the reach of children.
