Consider purchasing a reusable pepper grinder.

McCormick windmill grinders are simply devices that allow you to grind fresh pepper into your salad, steak or pasta. Regardless of what you decide to call it, the general operating process for a McCormick windmill grinder is straightforward. McCormick-brand consumer grinders are not intended to be reused; however, if you like your pepper mill, you can find several options for purchasing refillable grinders from your local grocery or home store. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the plastic wrapping that is attached to the top of the McCormick mill.

    • 2

Flip the cap up by using your thumb to press up on the groove located on the cap's side.

    • 3

Turn the pepper grinder upside down -- don't worry, the pepper will not spill out until you begin grinding.

    • 4

Rotate the cap by holding the glass portion of the grinder with your left hand and turning the cap with your right hand. Use a clockwise motion and hold the grinder above your food item. Grind as necessary. When you are done, replace the cap.

Tips & Warnings

  • If nothing comes out, try tapping the plastic portion of the cap against the side of your sink. Sometimes peppercorns get stuck in the grinder, making it difficult to turn.
