Instructions

    • 1

Measure along your IKEA cabinets where you want to place the crowns, which is typically at the top, though you may want to add to the bottom or do something completely different.

    • 2

Purchase an IKEA molding kit for your size and style of cabinets. IKEA molding kits come in a variety of finishes and styles.

    • 3

Set the crown along the top of the cabinet you're placing it on. Mark the edge of the cabinet along the underside of the crown's width. Turn the crown over, and measure 1-1/8 inches from the back to the front. Draw a line along the length, checking that the line stays at 1-1/8 inch the entire way across.

    • 4

Cut the excess sides off the crowns based on the smaller mark you made where the cabinets end. Cut at a 45 degree angle if the piece will butt up against another crown.

    • 5

Place the mounting brackets over the predrilled holes on the back of the molding. Insert and tighten the provided screws in each one, tightening well. Consult the instruction pictures, if needed.

    • 6

Turn the crown flat side up. Attach the adhesive tape along the bottom of the molding, where it will sit on the cabinet.

    • 7

Set the crown piece onto the top of the cabinets. The brackets should sit in an L-shape with an open "U" shape exposed and flat on the top of the cabinet. Drill in a screw on each bracket, fastening it to the cabinet. Repeat this procedure for each crown piece.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always measure twice before cutting, and when in doubt, remove less at a time. It's better to have a piece that's too long than one that's too short.
