How to Make Bad Guys Go Away on "Viva Pinata"
Viva Piñata is a simulation game in which piñata animals are alive on an island. The game originally was created for the Xbox 360. Later versions were developed for the PC and Nintendo DS, and a follow-up to the original called Trouble in Paradise was released. The player tends a garden that attracts wild piñatas, completes tasks to tame them and protects them from bad guys. Baddies that randomly appear to destroy the garden or make piñatas sick include sour piñatas, ruffians, their leader Professor Pester and a witchdoctor named Dastardos. Use one of several choices to make each baddie go away.
Instructions
-
Sour Piñatas
-
1
Tame the sour piñatas into sweet garden residents. You must complete different tasks for each species before it becomes a resident. Most must be fed a specific item, but some need water or another piñata to fight. Alternately, you may need to have certain awards.
-
2
Turn on the Tower of Sour totem pole. When you tame a sour piñata, your reward is a segment added to the totem pole representing that species. Activate the segment to stop sours of that species from entering your garden.
-
-
3
Hit the sour piñata with your shovel. It’s better to tame them because they have helpful traits, but like all piñatas, they can be smashed open.
Ruffians
-
4
Force them out of the garden. Bribe ruffians with chocolate coins, hit them with an upgraded shovel or tell a tame Mallowolf piñata to howl, and ruffians will run away.
-
5
Complete tasks as requested by Ivor the Beggar. In Levels 4, 5 and 6, you must pay him coins or give him various items. When the tasks are done, he opens a shop and offers items that work against baddies.
-
6
Purchase the Captain’s Cutlass in Ivor’s store. The sword costs 11,000 coins, but if you put the cutlass in your garden, it keeps ruffians away. In the original game, the cutlass also works against Professor Pester, but it doesn’t fill that role in Trouble in Paradise.
Dastardos
-
7
Heal or smash sick piñatas. Pay Doctor Patchingo or use the ability of a tame Chewnicorn to heal sick piñatas. Use your shovel to smash a sick piñata if you no longer want it in your garden. Dastardos won’t have a reason to visit the garden if you only have healthy piñatas.
-
8
Buy the Dastardos Scarer or the Dastardos Head in Ivor’s store. The Head is a power-up for your shovel that dazes Dastardos when you hit him with it. The Scarer is a statue that keeps Dastardos out of the garden.
-
9
Tame the Sherbat or Crowla pinatas. Either one can be used to distract Dastardos and prevent him from smashing piñatas.
Professor Pester
-
10
Pay Professor Pester 500 coins as soon as he enters the garden and he will leave. Purchase a decoy piñata at the General Store. It tricks him into leaving if you don’t pay quickly enough.
-
11
Keep a tame Limoceros, Dragonache or Choclodocus piñata. The Limoceros attacks Pester, and Dragonache and Choclodocus scare him, but he may still do damage before he leaves the garden.
-
12
Build a fence on the right side of the Tower of Sour and the professor will get trapped behind the fence. This trick works only in Trouble in Paradise.
