DIY Girl's Birthday Cupcake Table Centerpiece

A girly cupcake tower centerpiece will make for a celebration the birthday girl will never forget.

A birthday is a special time in a young girl's life. Little gestures such as constructing a decorative table centerpiece for the birthday girl's party can mean the difference between an average birthday party and a spectacular party that will impress all of her guests. You can decorate the centerpiece in any number of colors and patterns to fit the birthday girl's personal tastes or to match the overall theme of the birthday party.

Things You'll Need

• 3 different-sized polystyrene foam discs
• 2 soup cans
• Thick ribbon with a girly pattern
• Wrapping paper
• Hot glue gun with glue sticks
• Scissors
• Cupcake decorations (optional)

Instructions

1. Purchase three polystyrene foam discs in three different sizes to serve as the tiers of the cupcake centerpiece. The discs are available for purchase at most craft stores.

2. Trace the foam discs onto wrapping paper in the birthday girl's favorite color or in a color that matches the theme of the party. Pastel-colored wrapping paper works well for this task. Cut out the circles of wrapping paper and glue them to the tops of each disc.

3. Trim around the edge of each polystyrene foam disc with thick girly-patterned ribbon. Secure the ribbon firmly around each disc with a hot glue gun. Some ideas for girly ribbons to use include ribbon with a polka-dot pattern, flower-patterned ribbon and silky pink ribbon. It is okay if the ribbon is slightly wider than the edge of the discs and hangs down some.

4. Wrap two equal-sized soup cans with the same color wrapping paper that you used to cover the foam discs.

5. Hot glue one of the soup cans to the top of the largest polystyrene foam disc. Allow the glue to dry, and then glue the second-largest disc to the top of the can. Next, glue the other soup can to the top of the second-largest disc. Glue the smallest disc to the top of that second soup can to complete assembly of the cupcake centerpiece.

6. Place cupcakes on each tier of the completed centerpiece. Add girly decorations, such as flowers or princess crowns depending on the birthday girl's age, to the top of the cupcakes to add an extra girly touch.

• Make a centerpiece with four or five tiers instead of three if you are anticipating a large number of party guests.
