How to Cut Traditional Bangs
If you like your current hairdo but want to breathe new life into it, consider trimming bangs into it. Also referred to as fringe, a bang is the shortened crop of hair that falls down onto the forehead. Styled bangs go in and out of vogue, but a traditional straight-edged bang is a classic, time tested look. The straight bang is commonly associated with "Mod" or modernist fashion culture in the 1960s, but it can complement any contemporary look. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wet the roots of your hair with your fingertips. Part your hair as desired using a standard styling comb.
-
2
Begin from roughly two to three inches behind your hairline and comb your hair forward so that it falls down over the front of your face.
-
-
3
Split the hair into three sections. Tuck the right and left section behind your ears so that the remaining middle section remains over your face. Comb out the middle section thoroughly until it lays uniformly down your forehead.
-
4
Comb downward from the top of the middle section and hold the hair, at eye level, within the teeth of the comb. Hold the scissors vertically and begin trimming the hair across the length of the comb. Continue until all of the hair has been cut and the bang is formed.
-
5
Style your hair accordingly. To achieve a wider bang, add more hair to the middle section prior to combing and trimming.

Tips & Warnings
Avoid cutting your bangs too short initially, as they will shrink up after washing your hair.
As the bangs begin to grow, sweep them to the side for a laid-back look.
