How to Knit With Alternating Colors
If you're looking to add a creative touch to your next knitting project, consider using alternating colors for some extra flair. You can achieve this by alternating between two different colors of yarn, creating a striped pattern. This technique will work for any knit project, such as a pair of socks, a scarf or a blanket. You can use two colors that are very different to create contrast or use similar colors to create a cohesive look.

1
Begin knitting as you would any other project, making a few rows of knit stitches in the first yarn color of your choice.
-
2
Create a slipknot stitch at the end of the row where you want to change to a new color.
-
-
3
Cast on the start of the new colored yarn, snaking the needle through the slipknot from the old color.
-
4
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 before beginning again with the original color to start the striped pattern.
-
5
Repeat Steps 1 through 4 until your project is finished. Cast off the final stitch to ensure that the yarn won't unravel.
