A nail, if broken can often cause pain and result in further damage to the nail. Fingernail resin can be used to repair cracks or breaks in the nails. Though a break in the fingernail cannot be undone, applying a resin can keep the nail strong so that it can grow out without the break affecting the rest of the nail. Things You'll Need

  • Nail polish remover
  • Nail solvent
  • Orange stick
  • Cotton wool
  • Emery board
  • 180 nail grit file
  • Resin
  • Resin activator

Instructions

    • 1

      Remove nail polish with the nail polish remover. If shine is applied to the nail then remove it with the nail solvent.

      Push back the cuticles gently, using the orange stick rolled with cotton.

      Remove dirt and oil from the nail using the 180 nail grit. Pay attention to the sidewalls of the nail when you do this.

      Shorten and shape the nails with the emery board.

      Squeeze the resin bottle and place a small bead of resin down to the middle of the natural nail.

      Use the nozzle of the bottle to swipe it to the right and to the left to give a smooth finish to the entire nail. Continue the same process for all ten nails.

      Use the activator to activate the resin and dry it. Activator can be a spray or roll on type and used at a distance of 6 inches if it is a spray type.

      Use the grit file to file off any unevenness in the hardened resin.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the resin does not seep into the sidewalls or cuticles of the nail.
