Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the backsplash area. Remove any outlet or light switch covers from the wall where you plan to install the backsplash with a screwdriver.

    • 2

Clean the area where you plan to install the stainless backsplash. Pour a grease-cutting cleaner onto a rag to saturate it. Rub the rag over the backsplash area in circles to remove any built-up grease.

    • 3

Sand the wall. Use 80-grit sandpaper to prepare the surface for the adhesive that you will use to attach the stainless steel to the wall.

    • 4

Measure the wall for the backsplash area. Make a notation of each area where you need to trim the stainless roll, such as the location of any outlet covers or the area under the cabinetry.

    • 5

Roll out the stainless backsplash material to the length of the backsplash area. Mark the areas that you need to cut out. Use metal shears to cut out the marked areas.

    • 6

Apply contact cement or construction adhesive to the back of the backsplash material if it does not come with a sticky backing. Use a putty knife to spread the adhesive evenly across the backing of the stainless material.

    • 7

Position the stainless material by the left corner of the wall. Make sure that the material is flush against the adjacent wall and the counter. Push the stainless material against the wall.

    • 8

Rub the backsplash material with a rag to force out any air bubbles.

    • 9

Cut another piece out of the roll if you have more wall to cover. Cut out any necessary pieces. Add adhesive to the roll and attach it to the wall, making sure that it is flush against the previous piece of stainless material.

    • 10

Add pieces of metal trim to cover the seams between pieces of the stainless roll if desired.
